On Sunday January 8, 2012 Winston Eugene Griffin passed from this earth into his eternal rest with his Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 73 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Winston was bom to the union of Abbie T. and Dorothy Mizelle Griffin on August 19, 1938 in Mobile Alabama and grew
up in the community of Escatawpa Mississippi, graduating from Moss Point High School. He attended the University of
Southern Mississippi as well.
Mr. Griffin served in the United States Army Reserve for over five years achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant First
Class before completing his tenure.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen Rasco Griffin of fifty one years along with their children Randy (Rhonda)
Griffin, Jennifer Griffin Dickens, Stephen (Natalie) Griffin, Ryan (Jennifer) Griffin as well as grandchildren Scott Griffin,
Stacy Griffin, Ethan Dickens, Lexi Griffin, Shelby Griffin, and Noah Griffin and great grandchildren Taylor and Jaiden
Griffin.
He was active member of Wade Baptist Church attending Sunday School along with attending worship services and
singing in the choir. He was also a retiree of Morton Thiokol after over thirty years of employment with the company.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will always be remembered as a true Southern Gentleman.
His family would like to offer their appreciation to the members of his Sunday School class at Wade Baptist Church and
friends of the family who made such a challenging time in his life better for he and his family. They would also like to
offer a special Thank You to the wonderful nurses of the Hospice of Light who cared for his needs so wonderfully along
with the staff of Singing River Hospital.
Visitation for Mr. Griffin will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Wade Baptist Church in Wade, MS. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Wade Baptist Church, with a one hour visitation prior to service, with Rev. Everett Childers and Rev. L.C. Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS with full military honors being provided by American Legion Post #160.
Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS is in charge of arrangements.
