Mattie Fisher, 94, died Friday at Willowcrest nursing home. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Creede Community Church. She was a long-time resident of Creede, coming here in 1899. After the death of her husband, Royal I. Fisher in 1961, she wintered in California and for the last five years, has lived at Willowcrest.
She was born May 23, 1875 at Columbus, Illinois, the daughter of Adam and Ann Rutledge Allen. She supported her husband in his mining interests; his service as mayor for several years; and his service in the legislature for several years. She was active in the Congregational Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Anna Newrock, Whittier, California.
