Nancy Link, Writer-Editor, Dies After Long Illness
TENNANTS HARBOR - Mrs. Nancy Smith Link, 60, died at her home after a long illness.
Born in Mount Vernon, NY, on Nov. 9, 1915, she was the daughter of Nathaniel S. & Nancy Martin Smith. She attended schools in MIssouri, including Lindenwood College, St. Charles, MO. She was a pianist & professional accompanist in Missouri.
After moving to Maine in 1957, she became a free-lance photographer & reported for this newspaper & for the Bangor Daily News. She also was a staff reporter/photographer for (t)his newspaper in Pittsfield. She returned to Tenants Harbor from Pittsfield & became a columnist for the Courier-Gazette & wrote & edited The Coastal Courier & was chief researcher-editor for a number of years of the State O' Maine Facts, an annual reference publication.
Mrs. Link was a member of the Tenants Harbor Babtist Church, Ocean View Grange of Martinsville; League of Women's Voters; The Rubinstein Club of Rockland; & was a life member of the Women's Educational Club of Rockloand. She had been a member of the Knox County General Hospital Auxiliary, & had served as an officer in the Grange & the Knox Pomoma. She was a seventh degree Granger (National). She had also served as Noble Grand of Puritan Rebekah Lodge, Tenants Harbor.
Survivors include three sons, (Emerson) Blaine Link of Overland Park, Kan., R. Stevens Link, South Portland, & Joel M. Link of Tenants Harbor & eight grandchildren.
There will be not funderal services. Cremation will be held at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
