Obituary for Krista Joelle Nissen

Krista Joelle (Tisdale) Nissen, 45, received her angle wings March 1, 2015 and has given up her crutches, braces and wheel chair and is now soaring high in heaven. She was surrounded by her loving husband, family, and many wonderful friends who were such an important part of her life on this day.

Krista Joelle Nissen was born October 20, 1969 in Newton to Tom and Raylene (Thompson) Tisdale. Krista was a poster child for Iowa March of Dimes . She graduated in 1988 from the Newton High School and attended Marshalltown Community College and Vocational Rehabilitation in Des Moines. She worked many years at Iowa Methodist Younker Seven and Iowa Heart. Krista was married to Matt Nissen on August 13, 1994. She was a member of LWML Hope Lutheran in Des Moines. Matt was a loving and devoted husband who helped Krista face many challenging health issues over the years. Their little dog, Cosmo, provided much companionship to Krista as well. She loved to buy gifts for her special niece, Eden Rose, and nephews, Derek and Liam. Krista enjoyed Facebook as a way of staying in touch with all her family and friends.

Those left to honor Krista's memory include her husband, Matt of Des Moines; parents, Tom and Raylene Tisdale of Newton; one brother, Darin (Heather) Tisdale of Newton; a niece, Eden Rose Tisdale; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Donna Nissen of Kansas City; brother-in-law, David (Eve) Nissen of Kansas City; two nephews, Derek and Liam of Kansas City; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Krista's family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and other care providers for their compassion in providing excellent care and to her family and many friends who supported her during the medical and physical challenges she endured over the years.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 6th at Hope Lutheran Church in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Memorials may be designated in Krista's name to the March of Dimes and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.pencefh.com.
