Mrs. Margaret Bishop, widow of C. A. Bishop, early settler of Crystal township, died October 2, 1945 at the home of a son John, at Rowley, Iowa. She would have been 94 years old had she lived until next January 27. Although in failing health in recent months, Mrs. Bishop was never bedfast and was taken ill on the day of her death. She and her husband farmed in Crystal township many years, retiring in Marshalltown in 1899 where he died in 1925. After the death of her husband, she made her home with a son, Arthur, and family, at Algona, Iowa, and accompanied them when they moved from Algona to Mason City a year or two ago. Last spring, she went to Rowley to spend a few months with John.
Funeral services were held at Rowley at 11 o'clock Thursday morning of last week, after which the body was brought here for burial beside the husband and two sons in Crystal cemetery. A minister from Rowley conducted the funeral and accompanied the body here for brief services at the cemetery. Her three sons and two nephews were pallbearers at Crystal cemetery. Here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Bishop, of Rowley; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bishop, of Mason City; another son, Robert H. Bishop, and wife of Superior, Wisconsin; Mrs. Mary Dickey, of Clinton, Iowa, late of Traer and Mrs. Hoyt Thomas of Cedar Rapids. The three sons are the only living children, two sons having preceded her. Mrs. Bishop was a sister of Mrs. D. N. Dickey, deceased, mother of the late Frank Dickey, and of John Dickey, living in Traer.
