McLEANSVILLE, NC Mr. Charles Lester Bean, 71, of McLeansville, NC, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Monday, October 19, at McLeansville Baptist Church. Interment with military honors followed in the church cemetery.

Charles was born in Alamance County on December 8, 1937, to the late Fred T. and Alice Barton Bean.

He was a 50-year resident of the McLeansville Community and a longtime member of McLeansville Baptist Church.

Mr. Bean was a retired fire captain with the Greensboro Fire Department and a US Army veteran.

Charles was an avid golfer and on April 14, 1993, he finally made his first hole-in-one on the 15th hole at Cedarcrest Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Parsons Bean, of the home; sons, Jeff Bean (Marie) of Kernersville and Darryl Bean (Teresa) of McLeansville; granddaughters, Jessie Bean and Natalie Bean and step granddaughter, Candace Berkeley.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Neil D. Bean.
