Emma Eldiss Simmons married J.T. Cook on 30 December 1894 in the Nevada Community, Collin County, Texas.

Mrs. Cook came to Texas from Alabama in the early 1870s, locating with her mother, brothers and sisters near the Nevada Community in Collin County. After her marriage, she and her husband continued to live in Collin County until the fall of 1903 when they moved to Scranton, Texas. They lived at Scranton until 1905, then moved to Clyde where they lived until 1913. They moved from Clyde to Putnam in 1913. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Baptist Church for more than 60 years. A simple funeral was held at the home. The body was carried overland and put away beside her husband in the Old South Church cemetery. Five cars carrying her son and Mrs. Simmons and the Cook children made the trip. Survived by one son - E.H. Simmons; 10 step-children.
