It was said that Joseph P. Knight was injured when a musket ball was shot through his right wrist causing permanent damage to his arm and hand, so much so that the right thumb had to be amputated. He sustained another injury to his eardrum when he caught a cold after the wound to his wrist. He was partially deaf for the remainder of his life due to this cold.

Regarding burial location: if there is a Mount Olive in Dolson or nearer to Martinsville, Clark, Illinois, please let me know. I thought Orange township would be more accurate than Melrose township. Thanks.
