There was a family story that James and Catherine were living in a cave or perhaps it was a hollowed out place where miner's had been previously.....perhaps a miner's shanty. I noticed there was a large span in years of these two people...Catherine and James had both been married before...Catherine's sister, Mary, was married to James' father, at one time.

Catherine was born in 1838 in Ohio and died 05 Mar 1911 of pneumonia. The person who gave the information was Henry Campbell who was an adopted/? son of James and Catherine. Henry's real name was Henry Grant and he was a son of Levi Grant.

Catherine's sister Sarah is on page 12 of the 1900 census...married to Joseph McGaha...their daughter is next below them...married to Charles Roll...
