Franklin O'Banion Burt was one of 9 children born to John Burt and Eliza Goleman Burt. On 15 February 1899, he married Lillian E. Alsobrook in Clarke County, MS.
They had no children. They were divorced in Clarke County, MS on 21 April 1914.

Franklin Burt's nephew Odis Clarence Burt said that his Uncle Frank Burt was good to help his family out with food and supplies after Odis' father Elijah Keen Burt died, leaving seven young children.

J. L. Morgan officiating, assisted by Rev. Lee Drenchenburg; interment in Bethel Cemetery; pallbearers - C. L. Myers, Marshall Troutman, D. W. Wilkinson, V. G. Wilkinson, James Boswell, Earl Pickard.

He is buried next to his parents John and Eliza Burt at New Bethel Cemetery, Clarke County, MS
