WILLIAM F. ARNOLD DEAD,

The remains of the late William F. Arnold were brought here on Saturday from Crookston, and interred in the Riverview cemetery. Rev. E. E. Lopfstrom, pastor of Grace Memorial church officiated. The following extract from a Crookston paper tells the story of his death:

W. F. Arnold, who has been an invalid during the past few years and has suffered from the ravages of cancer in an awful manner, died this morning. Mr. Arnold, who is one of the pioneers of this city, has during recent months been very nearly helpless, his eyesight has left him almost entirely and the angel of death, appearing this morning to call him from earth, relieved the unfortunate man from his sufferings.

Mr. Arnold has been cared for at his home on Bridge street, in Jerome's condition during the past few months and of late has not been able to leave his room at all. Everything possible was done for him and various medical experts were called to examine his case, but nothing could be accomplished and for some time past, his death has been considered by members of the family as merely a question of time.

Mr. Arnold came to this city in the spring of 1878, and has during his life here held many responsible positions including those of city and county engineer. The funeral services will be held at Christ's church tomorrow evening at 8:45 and interment will be made Saturday at Wabasha, Minn., Mr. Arnold's old home. Mrs. Arnold is in Brooklyn and cannot get home to attend the services.

[And in conclusion from the Wabasha Herald...]
William F. Arnold was well known in this city where his boyhood was spent. He was united here in Marriage [sic] to Miss Minnie Orr, and for more than twenty-five years has resided in the Red River Valley. He was a member of the Episcopal church.
