Sam Houston Bell Jr.

Sam Houston Bell Jr. died Oct.24, 2008, at the home of his parents.

He was born July 3, 1948 in Denton and was member of Green Acres Baptist Church, He was a product of Tyler Independent School District, a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in 1966, after which he attended Tyler Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education and Biology. He received his certification to teach school. Sam taught Science and coached at Whitehouse, Garland, Stewart Middle School and Dogan Middle School, where he retired.

Sam is survived by his parents; one brother and sister-in-law; one niece and one nephew.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup, with Dr. Paul Powell officiating under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
