Margaret was the daughter of Robert Bevans [b. 1788, Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, d. May 19, 1862, Farmington, Fulton County, Illinois] and Hannah "Ann" Frost, b. 1800, Pennsylvania.

She married Abraham Prosser on January 22, 1842 in Peoria County, Illinois. The family was living at Farmington, Fulton County, Illinois at the time of the 1850 census. They migrated in 1864 to a farm near Pella, Marion County, Iowa. Margaret died at Pella on May 16, 1865, aged 42 years, 7 months, 13 days. She may have died in childbirth since her stone indicates 'also an infant son.'

Abraham married again, to Margaret Jane Rachel VanGinkel, [b. 1843, Holland, d. 1874], on December 3, 1865 at Marion County, Iowa. He died September 1, 1897 with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa.
