Mary Ellen Duncan Brown, 74, wife of James W. Brown, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Jordan and Lottie Mae Shipmen Duncan Eskew. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Howard and Carolyn Brown, Deborah and David Ashmore, and David and Tonja Brown, all of Piedmont, Keith and Tammy Brown, and Sarah and Jimmy Davis, all of Pelzer, and Stacy and Mandi Brown of Monroe, N.C.; grandchildren, Justin, Brandon and Brady Davis, David Ashmore, Jr. and his wife Michelle, Lisa Parham and her husband Brandon, Jimmy Brown and his wife Sherri, Anthony Brown and his wife Ashley, Travis Brown, Dawn Rector, Tabitha Sullivan and her husband Greg, Misty Brown, Chris Brown and his wife Adryanne, Jamie Brown, E.J. Witworth, and Beverli Brown; great-grandchildren, Jasper and Jayda Brown, Tyler and Haylee Parham, Cody, Cameron, and Kayleigh Sullivan, Katlyn, Noah, and Taylor Brown, Zach Rice, Matthew and Jayden Brown, Kayd and Baylee Brown, Kaylee Witworth, and Alexis Craft; sisters, Sue McFarland of Gray Court and Elizabeth McCuen of Simpsonville; and brother, Milford Duncan of Iva.
She was predeceased by daughter, Brenda Brown; son, Johnny Brown; grandchild, Micheal Brown; sisters, Martha Sexton and Marie Duncan; and brother, Wayne Duncan.
Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Antioch Christian Church with Pastor Doug Marsceau and Bishop Danny Gilliland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of a daughter, 260 Davis Road, Pelzer.
