He and Amner had thirteen children; Mellinda, Benjamin, John Calvin, William A., Hiram Silas, James Taylor, Nathan Jackson, Margaret Jane, Nancy Elen, Harriet Frisby, Mary Telitha, Lydia Ann, and Samuel H. Hopkins. He and Nancy Welch had four; Helen, Porter J., Rebecca E., Lillie Pearl Hopkins.
