Albert Charles Bedard-1948-2007- 58, of Springfield, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was born May 6, 1948 to the late George Arthur and Lea (Marlowe) Bedard. He grew up in Indian Orchard and lived in Springfield for much of his adult life. He leaves his loving wife of 38 years, Alice J. (Ladue) Bedard and their daughters, Dawn Simmons and her husband Charles, and Kelly Bailey and her husband Mark. He is forever known as "Pepe" to his grandchildren, Dylan Bailey, Jacob Bailey, and Alessandra Simmons. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Bedard. He leaves his three sisters, Lorraine Bouchard and her husband Robert of Chicopee, Jean Fontaine of Springfield and Lucille Romanych of East Lyme, CT. He leaves his mother-in-law, Thelma Garceau of Hampden and his brothers-in-law Lynn Ladue and his wife Nancy of Belchertown, James Ladue and his wife Kathy of Springfield, Dennis Ladue of Three Rivers and William Ladue and his wife Rose of Warren. He leaves his sister-in-law Annmarie Knodler and he husband Ken and several nieces and nephews and their families. He served his country as a Marine in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed metal detecting. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He is sadly missed. The funeral will be on Wednesday from the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Springfield at 10 a.m. Burial will be postponed until spring. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Western Mass., 393 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01105 or to a charity of one's choice.
