Born in Beverly, son of the late Patrick and Nellie(Walsh) Ahearn, he lived here all his life. He was firefighter on the Beverly Fire Department for more than 30 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a U.S.Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Menges (DE 320) He was a member of Beverly Golf & Tennis Club. the St Vincent de Paul Soc, the Vittori-Rocci Post, and the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association.
Surviving him are, his wife Grace; a son, John P. Ahearn of Wenham; two brothers, John F. Ahearn and James Ahearn, both of Florida; one sister, Margaret Charland of Beverly; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He also was the brother of the late Helen Ahearn.
Funeral from the Campbell Funeral home, Beverly, on Wednesday, followed by a funeral Mass at St Mary Star of the Sea Church.
Burial in St Marys Cemetery, Beverly, Mass.
