H. Ozzie Acord
WOOD RIVER -- H. Ozzie Acord died. 79, died at 1:55 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, Mo.

Born May 28, 1920, in Norris City, he was a son of the late John and Minnie (Wilson) Acord.

A World War II veteran, he worked for Illinois Bell for 38 years, retiring in 1983, and owned Acord Music Shop for 20 years.

Dec. 21, 1941, in East Alton, he married the former Mabel Chilton, and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Acord, Rick and Brenda Acord, all of St. Louis, Mo., Jeff Acord of Bloomington, Minn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and John Gefferth of O'Fallon; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Retha Wesley of Cottage Hills.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ebert and Hallard Acord.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First General Baptist Church in East Alton with the Rev. George Dougherty officiating.

Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the First General Baptist Church where he was a member.
