Born March 15, 1951, in Sumter, he was the son of the late James Frederick and Posie Roberts Barrett. He was a construction worker, and a member of Manning First Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of Wedgefield, are two sons, David Richard Barrett Jr. of Columbia, and Joseph Michael Barrett of Irmo; two daughters, Victoria Barrett Ard of Alcolu, and Elizabeth Barrett Windham of Manning; a sister, Mary Lou Barrett Hardy of Manning; and ten grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Stevie Barrett.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Tom Vassar officiating. Burial was in Manning Cemetery.
