Madeleine Rena (Smith) Adams, 73, died on Jan. 27 at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville.
Born in Dingmans Ferry, Pa., she grew up in Sparta before moving to Lake Hiawatha for over 20 years.
Adams was a matron and crossing guard for Sparta Police Dept. from Feb. 28,1969 until April 14, 1999 when she retired.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debra S.; her grandson, Michael David; and her granddaughter, Nicole Jessica. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard E. Sr., and her son, Howard E. Jr.
Arrangements were by the Par-Troy Funeral Home.
