Gary Richard Macaulay, 54, of East Granby, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday (August 10, 2003). He was born in Springfield, MA on September 30, 1948 and resided in Connecticut for over 40 years.

He previously owned and operated his own auto body repair shop, Southwick Auto Body, which thrived due to his hard work and integrity. He had a great love of cars and enjoyed rebuilding them. He spent a great amount of his spare time with his dogs, whom he loved, and working on model cars.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife, Sheryl (Laverdiere) Macaulay; two sons, Danny Jay Macaulay and Robert Norman Macaulay; and a daughter, Amy Lynn Macaulay, all of East Granby. He also leaves his mother, Beatrice Wells Macaulay; his brother, Ronald Macaulay, both of Winston-Salem, NC; his sister, Judy Martin of Snellville, GA; his mother-in-law, Joyce (Laverdiere) Lyon; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; four nieces; three nephews; many friends; and his closest friend, Jason Milek of Granville, MA.

There are no calling hours. A graveside ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 1 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, Nicholson Road, East Granby. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.
