Mrs. Frances Haskell Allmond, 101, of New Canton, died Monday, December 6, 2010.

Frances was born in Missouri, and grew up in Minneapolis. She moved to New York City in the 1930's and to Delaware in the 1940's. She relocated to Virginia in the 1990's, living first in Virginia Beach, then Charlottesville, and finally in New Canton.

Mrs. Allmond was an accomplished artist and a dear friend to many people over the years. Fiercely independent, she lived a long and full life.

She was predeceased by her husband, W. Stewart Allmond and his daughter, Marjorie A. Jones; and by her siblings, Mary H. Gunn, Catherine Haskell, Charlotte Haskell and Miller Haskell.

She is survived by her son, Joseph S. Allmond and his wife, Joan, with whom she lived with, Stewart's daughter, Carolyn A. Gorry of Virginia Beach; and grandchildren, Will Allmond, Matthew Allmond, Nancy Gorry, James Gorry Jr, Stewart Gorry, Nancy Baker Jones and Judy Jones Moore.
