Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Parker, 84, of 675 Stoneykirk Drive, Fayetteville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

She was born Sept. 30, 1923, to the late Harvey and Gladys Paul in Birmingham, Ala.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and a true friend to all who knew her.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Paul Parker.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joe I. Parker of the home; three daughters, Sue-Beth Bowman of Lincolnton, Ga., Caroline Pearce of Manteo and Julianne Bass of Fayetteville; a son, Robert D. Norman of Fayetteville; and a brother, Lee Chappell of Kingsport, Tenn.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church chapel with Dr. Mark Olson officiating. The family will receive friends at the gathering hall at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
