Killed In Mishap

A Sayre School lad was killed early today on his way to school

The lad Joey Andrews, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip, was riding his bicycle to school on North
Fourth street (sis) U.S. 66 and reportedly was watching a truck, when the truck cleared the intersection he made a left turn on the highway and did notice a car traveling south. The car driven by a California tourist, hit his bicycle, throwing him to the pavement, where he landed on his head and received fatal injuries.

Young Joey was rushed to the Sayre hospital and died soon after arrival.

Arch Alexander, superintendent of school, said apparently the fall on the pavement was cause of death as the car did not pass over the body. He said the highway patrol also oberved that the car did not run over the lad.

The accident occurred around 815 a m in the block in which the Rose Chapel funeral home is located on North Fourth street.

The lad's parents own a grocery store in Sayre.
