Billy Everett Aldridge,79, of Itta Bena passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at his residence. Services will be 2p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Wilson & Knight Chapel. Visitation will be 5p.m. to 7p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Itta Bena Cemetery. Rev. Ren Smith will officiate assisted by Rev. Doyle Cummings.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church Itta Bena where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Itta Bena and a past master. He was associated with Sayle Oil Co. in Greenwood for 16 years before taking a position with the Department of Transportation where he retired, on December 31, 1997. He loved spending time with family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Marlin and Corrine Aldridge and one brother Gene Aldridge.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Frances Burton Aldridge of Itta Bena. Two sons; Don Aldridge and wife Louanne of Carrollton, Wayne Aldridge and wife Michelle of Greenwood, daughter Jan Cummings and husband Andy of Grenada. Two grandsons Caleb Cummings of Grenada, Roger Derrick Simpson, Jr. of Greenwood. Three granddaughters; Cassie Cummings of Grenada, Karle Aldridge of Greenwood, and Katie Thompson of Memphis, TN.
Pallbearers will be Billy Gregg, Jr. Tommy Hodges, J.D. Brasel, Buddy Deaton, Barry Corley and Kimble Kelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Men's Senior Adult Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena.
