Robert W. "Bill, Bob, Billy-Bob, and Buckwheat" Clay went home to his heavenly mansion on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Bill was born in Springfield, MO to Leonard "Bert" Clay and Alma Green. At a young age, the family moved to Fremont, MO where he starred on the high school basketball team. Bill successfully raised strawberries and raspberries prior to dairy farming and was a widely known painting contractor "Bob Clay Painting" for many years. During retirement, he had a business partner John (Kathy) Geleynse and together they owned and operated "The Duke Restaurant". Also in retirement, Bill and Winefred never let the grass grow under their feet. They lived in Texas, back to Lynden, back to Texas, on to Florida, then finally returning home to Lynden and landing in Meadow Greens where he went from this earth to his heavenly father. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Winifred Inghram; sons Kraig (Janet) and Danny; sister Ruby (Darrel) Blasingame; brother James (JoAnn) Clay; grandchildren Tammie, Angela, David (Kristina) and Melissa; great grandchildren Jacob, Johnathon, Jordan, Stephanie, Peyton, and Jaylen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his brother Lowell and Son William "Billy" Clay. Bill goes to join his fishing buddy Larry Strengholt where the competition goes on to see who catches the first, the most and biggest fish. A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm, on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Lynden Community Church, 680 Grover St., Lynden with a fellowship time to follow. The family wishes to thank Meadow Greens staff for the care and comfort they provided. A big thank you for Hospice and his nurse Carin and his bath nurse Shela.
