COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY – 11/04/1943
James Flood, 40, Fern Valley Road, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday [November 3, 1943] at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Flood, 777 Logan. He was an L&N Railroad car mechanic. He also is survived by his wife, Mrs. Stella Flood; a stepson, Pvt. George Bickert; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Moore and Mrs. Lauretta Ryan; and four brothers, Elliot Flood and Ira Flood, both of Indianapolis, Sam Flood and Kenneth Flood. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at Arch Heady's Chapel. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.

Beloved husband of Mrs. Stella Flood (nee Knoop); devoted son of Mrs. Katie & Joseph L. Flood; brother of Mrs. Robert L. Moore, Mrs. E.C. Ryan, Elliott, Sam, Ira & Kenneth Flood; stepfather of Pvt. George Bickert. Remains at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, Oak and Schiller Avenue, where services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment in Cave Hill Cemetery.
