Mrs. Nancy Ella Berry
Nancy Ella Berry was born January 13, 1878, in Indiana, to Henry Harvey Van Dusen and Artemissa Jane Field Van Dusen. She departed this life March 27, 1938, at the age of 60 years 2 months and 14 days.

At the age of 9 years she moved with her parents to Arkansas where they lived until 1893 when they moved to Hardtner, Kans.

She was united in marriage to James Milton Berry December 1, 1895 at Capron, Woods county, Okla. To this union nine children were born, four sons and five daughters, all of whom are living except her husband and one daughter, Opal Leona Berry, who preceded her in death. She moved with her husband from Kansas to Oklahoma, settling on a claim 13 1/2 miles northwest of Alva, living there until 1927 when they moved to Alva.

She leaves to mourn her loss four sons, Edward Berry, Capron, Okla.; Carl Berry, Stillwater, Okla.; Albert Berry and Ralph Berry, Alva; five daughters, Mrs. Mabel Knox, Alva; Mrs. Maude Harrington, Capron; Miss Dolly Berry, Alva; Mrs. Ruth Gilbert, Chelan, Washington; ten grandchildren; four brothers, R. L. VanDusen, Rockford, Ill.; L. A. VanDusen, Kiowa, Kansas; Edward A. Van Dusen, Spokane, Wash., R. A. Van Dusen, Kiowa, Kansas; three sisters, Estella McCauts, Sedalia, Mo.; Nellie Green, Racine, Wis.; Rena Van Dusen, Hardtner, Kans.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a kind, loving wife and mother and while on this earth devoted her life faithfully and wholly to them.

Our mother is dead;
God whispered in a hushed breath and said. "Thy work on earth is done."
Comfortably she lies and smiles,
She does not speak,
Our eyes are wet
Our shoulders shake
Our heads are bowed,
We weep.
But it is said,
"God's will is best and she is dead." --X.
