Raymond Wesley Bell
Raymond Wesley Bell, 78, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Raymond was born October 28, 1927 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the son of Rodney and Naomi (Bryant) Bell.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1947 he and Euphena Leathers were united in marriage. Raymond lived in Winterhaven, California for 46 years, where he retired as the manager of the Winterhaven County Water District. He also served as Fire Chief, was a member of the school board, and owned and operated several businesses which included B & M Sport Shop. After retirement he and Euphena lived in Yuma for ten years, and Tucson, Arizona for two years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Yuma Masonic Lodge.
Surivors include his wife, Euphena; two children and their spouses, Raymond Bell, Jr. and Susan, of Ozark, Missouri, and Brenda and Richard DeVerse, of Yuma; five grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa (James Sulewski, Peggy (Mat) Hoogendoorn, Jennifer (Caleb) Howe, Greg (Sheri) Bell, and Steven Bell; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Blaylock; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Walter Eddie Bell. Visitation will be at Johnson Mortuary Chapel in Yuma on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Desert Lawn Cemetery. A reception will held after services in the fellowship hall at Central Church of Christ, 651 W. 28th St.
