Bobby Lee Gourley, born July 3, 1926 – died April 29, 2013. A U.S. Army Veteran who served as a Heavy Machine Gunner in the Pacific theater during WWII.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 62 years, Gladys Lucille (Hodge) Gourley; his parents, Harold and Frieda Gourley; 3 brothers, Morris, Toby, and Teddy; and his sister Virginia.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Wood with husband Richard, and Janet Swenson with husband Jim; and son Kenneth Gourley with wife Jennifer.
Dad loved fishing on the Arkansas River and donating his time to the American Legion. He was always busy with his hands, building many things, of which his favorite was a trike that he won many awards for at different motorcycle rallies and shows. Dad remained very active with the American Legion Post 170 well into his eighties, until his health started to deteriorate. We want to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the Norman Veterans Center for the wonderful care, love, and support they provided for Daddy during his final months.
Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday 9:00am to 8:00pm at Sunny Lane Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, May 3, at 2:00 PM at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
