Sarah was the daughter of Martin Brownfield and Nancy Jane Taylor.
Sarah was single in 1900 age 18. Her first husband Newton Dupey is found living in a household near by. Sarah and Newton are found in the Vermilion County, Il. marriage index 1893-1904, Register 4, pg. 153, certificate # 16506.(family search.org). Family tree information shows a son (Levi) born May 16,1904 and died May 16,1904. A daughter, Ervella was born in April 1906. A U.S. directory for Newton Dupey with wife Sarah May 1, 1904. By the 1910 census they are divorced. Newton's death was in 1916.
Sarah married Edwin Hill on May 9, 1916 in Champaign, Illinois, certificate # 5124, marriage register pg. 12 image (family search.org). They divorced on Oct. 25,1922 in Tuscola, Michigan. No children. Sarah and her daughter are back living with her parents in 1920.
Sarah married Abram Ater in Champaign, Ill. on Oct. 19,1926, certificate # 11384, marriage register pg. 165 (family search.org.) Illinois death index record for Abram Ater, died in Urbana, Champaign County, Il. on June 20,1929. Sarah is living with her daughter in the 1930 census. In the 1940 cenus she was a housekeeper for George Washington Mumper in Collinsville, Madison, Illinois.
George's wife died in 1925 and is buried at McInturff cemetery. He died in Mulberry Grove and is also buried at McInturff. This might be why Sarah is buried in this cemetery. Illinois death index record shows Sara died in Vandalia, Fayette Co., Ill. Looking for obit to confirm.
