Orville E. Blume, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at a local healthcare facility.

He was born March 26, 1914 to John and Ora (Floray) Blume in Lenexa, Kansas.

He married Dorothy H. Potts August 29, 1954. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2004.

Mr. Blume worked as a Plant Manager at Aero Transportation Products later retiring after 42 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing and flying. Orville's passion, though, was inventing and tinkering with items. He had patents and one of his proudest accomplishments was helping create a new fiberglass bobsled for the 1988 Olympics.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy H. Blume; infant son, Raymond Keith; and brothers, Howard, John, Raymond "Bud", Kenneth, and Glenn Blume.

Survivors: his sister, Letha Otte; brother, Don Blume; sister, Jean Lingier; sister, Eleanor Beene; brother, Paul Blume; and several nieces and nephews.

Services 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday. The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
