Ingersoll Amory died on Wednesday, August 31, at his home 199 Marlboro street, Boston, after a long illness, in his fifty-second year.

He was born in New York, November 28, 1869, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Ingersoll) Amory. He prepared for college at Noble's School in Boston and was graduated from Harvard in the class of 1892.

Mr. Amory entered the cotton business and later became a cotton merchant under the firm name of Ingersoll Amory & Company, at 18 Post Office square. The style of this concern was afterwards changed to Clark.Payson & Company, with which house Mr. Amory was associated at the time of his death.

In 1900, Mr. Amory entered Harvard Medical School but withdrew during his third year there. He had lived practically his whole life in Boston, but had travelled a great deal in this country and abroad, both for business and pleasure.

Mr. Amory was a member of the Country Club, Tennis and Racquet Club, Harvard Club, Automobile Club, Somerset Club and Eastern Yacht Club. He Is survived by his sister, Miss Ethel Amory of 199 Marlboro street, and two uncles, Frederick Amory and Harcourt Amory.
