The funeral services for Miss Alphild Olson, whose tragic death by drowning, was mentioned in last week’s paper, was held on Friday July 8th, at the home at 1 p. m., and at the Chippewa Lutheran church at 2 p.m. Rev. Theo. Bergee officiating, assisted by Rev. C. B. Bestul, Rev. Odd Gornitza and Rev. Knack, the two latter of the Lutheran Bible Institute, now in session at Lake Carlos.  The main sermon was preached by Rev. Gornitzka.  Rev Knack sang a solo “Under His Wings” and Miss Martha and David Johnson sang a duet.  Rev. Knack also sang a solo in the home
Honorary pall bearers were Miss Nola Newhouse, Lillian Miller, Irene Johannson, Christine Ellingson, Lucille Nelson and Ethel Knudson.  The active pall bearers were six school-mates, Orrean Thompson, James Lauthen, Bernard Larson, Vernon Strom, Winston Johnson, Lake and Gilfred Newhouse.  Besides the profuse and beautiful floral offerings, the following memorial gifts were given b the family, the many relatives and friends as follows: for home and foreign missions, $23.50; Lake Park Orphans Home, $11.00; Wild Rice Orphans Home, $9.00; and to the Lutheran Bible Institute, $26.00. Total was $69.50.  it was one of the largest funerals held from Brandon.  People came far and near to show their sympathy and respect to the bereaved family. Interment was in the Brandon cemetery.  Alphild Olson was born May, 1916.  She was baptized in Grace Lutheran church by Rev. H. Magelson, and was confirmed by Rev. C. B. Bestul.  She attended te rural school, after which she attended the Brandon high school from which she graduated in  1934.  She attended the Lutheran Bilble Institute in Minneapolis for a term also several sessions at the summer camp near Alexanderia. 
She had made plans to attend some of the sessions again this sumer.  She was an active member in the Grace Luther League and had also taught Sunday school in the past year.  She had by her fine Christian character, endeared herself to all who knew her. Alphild is survived by her parents, five brothers, Jennings, Harvey, Elro, Clarence, and Glen, and a sister, Lila; four nephews and one neice; also a large number of relatives and a host of friends who mourn her departure.  Among relatives and friends from a distance who came to be present at the funeral services were her aunt MrsE. M. Hanson of Minneapolis and daughters, Mrs T. C Ullering and Mrs. Kenneth Farr of Bagley; her uncle, Mr. and Mrs Pete E Bergh of Erksine, P. O. Pederson and son Sofus of Seda, Mrs. Pauline Christenson of Gleswood, Mr and Mrs. Harold Ostlund and their daughter , Marilyn, Mrs. John Holing of Fargo, the latter’s daughter, Mrs. Swenson of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. A Dahl and Pet J. Bergh of Elbow Lae, Mrs. Mary Ostlund and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bjorlien of Hoffman, Lloyd Bergh of Clarissa, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bergh and Mrs Victor Ahrens of Long Prairie, Mr and Mrs. Henry Bergh and children of Osakis, Mr. and Mrs. Aldrich Ostlund, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie, Urness, Mr. Ellertson, Mr. Albert Olson, Misses Helen and Lillian Miller and others of Alexandria, Mis Elnora Bergh of Duluth, Mr. and Mrs. Sanders of Hoffman, Mrs. John M Gunderson and  of Kensington.
