SALISBURY, NC - Dallas Lee Ammons, 80, of Salisbury died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was the son of the late John W. and Cleo Adams Ammons.

He attended Barium Springs and Mocksville High School, graduated from Catawba College with a BA in History and UNC-Chapel Hill with a BS in Pharmacy.

Mr. Ammons served in the US Army Air Corp, 1946-1949.
Long time owner of Salisbury Pharmacy, he continued to work three days a week with the current owners until his recent illness.

He was a supporter of WTVI, Holy Angels Nursery, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a volunteer pharmacist at a local health clinic, and a founding member and past board officer of the Medical Services Inc.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmel O'Reilly Ammons on November 14, 1999 a brother, Milton V. Clement and a sister, Billie Ammons Hartley.

Survivors include the second love of his life, Brenda Morris of Salisbury; son, John Aaron Ammons (Lynne) of Pinehurst; daughters, Michele A. Crews of Mount Airy, Terrie A. Rallings (Tom) of Charlotte, Pat A. Johnson (Mike) of Granite Quarry, Karen A. Kendrick (Matt) of Winston-Salem, Leigh A. Grimes (John) of Salisbury; brothers, John Gordon Ammons (Shirley) of Red Springs, and Turner A. Ammons of Greensboro. Fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted 2:30 pm Wednesday at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Snipes, officiating. Interment followed at City Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.
