13 July 1861 - Nancy Piper and her daughter, Nancy Matilda, are living in Knoxville, Marion Co., IA.

Children of Johnathan Piper: Isaac N., Charles, George (Nicolet Co., MN May 1961); William ( 7 yrs. old); Mary Jane Petty; and Nancy Matilda Piper. Johnathan had 'older' children by a previous marriage.
Nancy Jane Bailey Epperson Piper Darling Stevens was married to Russell Stevens who was born abt. 1823. Mr. Stevens had a son, Frank L. Stevens, by a previous marriage.

Emma J. Epperson Palmateer was born June 22, 1854 in Monroe Co., state of Iowa, 3 miles west of Albia, the Co., seat. She started across the plains on May, 1863 to prolong the life of her mother who raised 8 children. Mrs. Palmateer arrived at the mining town of Galena, Nevada on October first and left Galena for Oregon on the 10 day of July, 1864, arriving in Roseburg (sic), Oregon on the 1st day of November 1864 and she spent the winter there. On Jul y 1, 1865 she came to Albany where she worked in the harvest. On September 1st of that year she came over to Sandy Ridge where her father was the fifth homesteader on the Ridge.

Nancy's father, John Henry 'Bill' Bailey, was living with her family in the "1880" Sumner, Coos Co., OR Census.

Two of Nancy's Grandchildren, William Fred and Jesse J. Piper are buried in the 'Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery, Coos Bay, Coos Co., OR.
