AIKMAN, Caroline Ann (née Matheson)--
Carrie Ann passed away suddenly but peacefully at home in Montreal on Sunday, 7 Feb 2010. Beloved wife of John and mother to sons John Drummond (Karen), Colin (Leslie), and Neil (Rebecca); grandmother of five grandchildren. Carrie Ann is now reunited with her beloved daughter Jennifer Ann.

Born in 1937 of strong Scottish roots in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Carrie Ann treasured her many summers with friends and family at her cottage at Black Point. Schooled locally and at Branksome Hall in Toronto, Carrie Ann was a graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax.

In Montreal, her home of forty-five years, Carrie Ann was an active member of the Auxiliary of the Montreal General Hospital and the Royal Montreal Curling Club, as well as a strong exponent of the game. A bright, graceful, and dignified woman who loved to laugh and entertain, Carrie Ann will live on in the hearts and memories of friends and family around the world - particularly in Australia. A funeral service was held in the chapel at Mount Royal Cemetery in Outremont on Thursday, 11 Feb 2010. Reception to follow. A memorial service will also take place during the summer in Nova Scotia with date to be determined.

A memorial service was held in Little Harbour Presbyterian Church, Pictou County, on Saturday, 7 August to celebrate the life of Carrie Ann (Matheson) Aikman, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in Montreal on February 7, 2010. Carrie Ann will be interred, as per her wish, in the adjacent Church Brook Cemetary together with her beloved only daughter Jennifer Ann who died accidentally in Quebec on May 2, 1971. A reception at the church hall followed.
