JEANNE M. COX

July 23, 1938 - April 6, 2023

Jeanne Marie Cox, 84, residing in Lafayette, CA passed away peacefully in her home on April 6th, 2023 with her family holding her hands, surrounding her with love.

Jeanne was born on July 23, 1938 to Loretta & Edward Kaido of Pennsylvania and raised in Clinton, NY. She graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh, studying nursing, which would be her lifelong career for nearly 50 years.

Moving to San Francisco in 1962 with her best friend Rosemary Fredericks, she met her lifelong friend Katie Harrington and the love of her life, John Cox in 1972. John & Jeanne married in 1973 and lived happily together in Lafayette for 26 years prior to his passing in 1999.

Her greatest joys were watching her children and grandchildren play sports - attending endless football games, basketball games and weekend-long volleyball tournaments. When she wasn't dropping everything to be her family's cheerleader, she could be found enjoying an A's, Raider, or Warrior game with a fresh ice cold Pepsi. She was an avid pet lover, with a constant set of paws sitting on her lap.

Jeanne is remembered in love by her children John, Ed (Marisa), Laura, and her 4 wonderful grandkids that brought her perpetual laughter: Samantha, Sacha, Adam, and Cecilia. She is survived by her dear coast-to-coast siblings Eddie, Diane, Janice & Rita, her nieces and nephews, and joins her sister Leila who passed in 2002. Her beloved dog Buddy will fondly remember the human-grade meals and constant attention Jeanne gave him in her final years.

We will miss her endless warmth, her smiling blue eyes, and her easy going, authentic nature. She only knew unconditional love and shared it liberally to all those she met.

Our family wishes to thank her amazing team of caretakers and hospice nurses which gave her much compassion and love in her final months and our many friends and family for their support.

A funeral mass will be held at Christ The King Church in Pleasant Hill, 195 Brandon Road on April 27th 11am. Prior to the service there will be a visitation at the church, starting at 10AM.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you donate to a cause that was dear to Jeanne, the ASPCA .
