Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Margaret Coffee, 78, a life long resident of Madera County and the daughter of James and Martha Crowder, ranching settlers of the county, who died Sunday morning in a local hospital of a lingering illness. Mrs. Coffee was the widow of Thomas S. Coffee, a well known rancher, and the mother of former district attorney Everett Coffee.
She was born in 1877 and lived on what is now known as the Dolph Jones Ranch in the Trigo District where her parents were grain farmers after moving here from Tennessee in the early 1870's.
Mrs. Coffee married on February 21, 1899, and had three sons and a daughter, all of whom are living. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Madera County Home Department.
She is survived by her sons, Everett of Madera, Earl of Tulare, and Logan of Concord; her daughter, Ila Coffee of Madera; a brother, Sid B. Crowder of Fresno; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Hope of Madera, Mrs. Nell West and Mary Crowder, both of San Jose; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
