Findagrave.com contributor Dennis Brandt gives this information about Daniel W. Barr:
"in 1860 he was a clerk living in Eden Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 6" tall and had light hair and blue eyes. He married Philena Marshall in 1863 and fathered Blanche B. (b. 04/??/67) and Wilkie (b. 1869).
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Lancaster March 9, 1865, as an unassigned private with the 199th Pennsylvania Infantry, but is also reported with Co. G. On June 28, 1865, the 199th Pennsylvania ended its existence, and he transferred to Co. G, 188th Pennsylvania Infantry, to complete his term of service, honorably discharging with his company on December 14, 1865."
Census records show the family in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1870 and in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania by 1900.
