John Scruggs was the son of John Richard (a traveling Baptist Minister in the Confederate Army) and Cornelia Scruggs. He grew up in Cullen, VA. He had a brother named Herman and Vernon. He was married to Ruth Coleman. He spent his adult life in Hopewell. He was the Father of Lovelene, Junior, Bobby & Tommy & Grandfather of six. He worked at Allied Chemical for many years. He played with the "Dixie Hillbillies" on the Radio in Virginia. He was a quiet, easygoing man who was dearly loved.

Cause of Death: Heart Attack. Died at Work.
