Born in St. Louis, Missouri on 10 November 1955. His hometown Cahokia, Illinois. Entered the Navy on 6 March 1973. AE2 Cofer reported to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE on 18 January 1977. Survived by his wife, Mrs Nancy Ray Cofer and daughter Wendy.
