F uneral services for Virgil Wayne Decker, 62, Silver City were held February 14 at Silver City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Nina Pulatie officiated, with burial in Silver City Cemetery.

Mr. Decker passed away February 11, 1990, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.

He was born November 20, 1927, in Silver City, the son of Arch and Viva Hunt Decker. A lifelong resident of Silver City, Virgil attended school in the town. He married Alene McCoy on January 1, 1947, in Council Bluffs. He worked as a truck driver most of his life, retiring from the Silver City Co-Op two years ago.

H e was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, one sister, and one son-in-law.

Survivors include his daughter Trudy Rhoades of Silver City; three sisters, Mildred Fitzpatrick of Omaha, Jean Mullins of Bellevue, Neb., and Lois Severance of Branford, Fla.; one brother Frank Decker of Silver City; and one granddaughter, Traci Rhoades of Silver City.

Ardis Dusenberry was the organist at the funeral service, the Rev. Nina Pulatie was the soloist. Pallbearers were Ward Hunt, Bill Hunt, Mike Cox, Gerald Stogdill, Leonard McMullen, and Sammy Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, Silver City Ambulance, or the American Cancer Society. Raynor Funeral Home of Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
