Cadd Ruth Hawkins was born 6 July 1886 in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas, daughter of William Franklin Hawkins and Mary Belle Hagan. She died 27 October 1973 at the Americana Nursing Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Her family moved to Jerome, Iowa, in 1898, where both of her parents had been born. She attended the Jerome Public School. She was a member of the first graduating class of nurses from St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital on 4 January 1912. She was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Nurses Corps. She was a member of the American Legion Post in Centerville for over 50 years. She filled supervisory nursing positions in several hospitals and did extensive private duty nursing. She had resided in Davenport for 25 years at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. George Gibson officiating. Burial was in the Jerome Cemetery.
