María del Carmen Bárbara Palomares y Saez was born at Santa Bárbara August 6, 1798, and was baptized in the Presidio Chapel later that same day (BP Baptism 00177). She was the daughter of soldado José Cristobal Palomares y Valenzuela and María Benita Saez y Sotelo. She married Juan Nepomuceno Alvarado y Amador at Mission San Gabriel May 31, 1812 (SG Marriage 01250). María del Carmen died at Rancho San José (Pomona) and was buried in the family cemetery.
