Jay Norman Ballentine, Jr. of Jefferson, MD, previously of Chester, MD passed away at Tranquillity at Fredericktowne in Frederick, MD on July 19, 2017. He was 80.

Born on November 13, 1936, in Derry Township, PA, he was the son of the late Jay and Alma (Gilchrest) Ballentine. Jay earned his BS in Electronic Engineering from Indiana Tech, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Jay was active in Ruritan Club, held offices as District Gov., District Secretary, Zone Gov., Club President, and Club Secretary. He was President of Chester Senior Center and a Life Time member of Boy Scouts and was Boy Scout Leader. Jay held church offices at Galilee Lutheran Church in Chester, MD where he also taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW and Moose.

Jay is survived by his children Connie House(David) of Jefferson, MD, Jay(Skip)Ballentine of Baltimore, MD, Michael(Sandra)Ballentine of Pasadena, MD and Susan Ballentine of Chester, MD. Grandchildren: Rebecca(Russell) Lilly of Charlestown, WV, Jessica(Ray) Tyler of Knoxville, MD, Erin House of Brunswick, MD and Steven Meyer of Lothian MD. Great Grandchildren: Skyler, Charles(Buddy), Devyn, Hailey, Cooper, Peyton, Grant and Madison and companion Janet Trimble of Chester, MD. In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Irene Ballentine in 2007; sister Hazel Pursel; and granddaughter Tena Crouch.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 24 from 1-3pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD, where a service will begin at 3pm. Interment will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Stevensville Cemetery.
