Our mother, sister, grandmother and best friend, Amy Josephine MacKnight Lube Allen, passed away Saturday, April 22, in her home in Vernal after a seven year battle with cancer. She went peacefully in her sleep.

Amy was born in Jensen on Feb. 24, 1919 to Crawford and Flossie Murray MacKnight and was the oldest of eight children. She spent her early years at the home of her grandmother, Josie Morris, where she was taught the ABCs, multiplication tables, and given a love of good literature and music.

Music was Amy's life and she started playing the piano for the LDS church in Jensen at the age of nine. She taught private lessons for over 20 years and worked for the Uintah School District as an accompanist.

Amy married Jim Lube in 1937, the year she graduated from high school. In 1938 they moved to Willow Creek and worked at the Thorne Ranch. Ten years later they moved to Vernal where she lived the rest of her life. Jim Lube passed away in 1976. Amy married Lawrence Allen in 1988, he passed away in 1993.

In 1985 she volunteered to play for the Harmony Four at the Golden Age Center, until they could get someone else to do it. She played in the band until 1997.
Up until three weeks ago, Amy played for all three masses at the Saint James Catholic Church and also for the Kingsbury Congregational Church. Amy never turned anyone down when she was needed to play for funerals, weddings, or any other events needing a piano player. God must have needed a good piano player.

Amy had a truly gentle spirit and could always find the good in everyone who knew her.

Mom is survived by four sons, Jim (JoeAnn); John (Merilee); Joe and Tom (Valesca); and her best friend, Barbara; three sisters, Jane, Dottie and Wilda; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Ann and Belle; two brothers, Boone and Frank.

Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, April 25, in the Saint James Catholic Church, 138 North 100 West. Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the committee for the renovation of Josie's cabin. Dinosaur Nature Association, 1291 East Hwy 40, Vernal, Utah 84078.

This is not the end, but the beginning.
See you soon mother, dear.
