Wife of Reid Tew Allred
Alta Mae Hicken Allred 1925 ~ 2009 Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on December 15, 2009 due to causes incident of age.She was born April 11, 1925 to Lena Elizabeth Blood and John Ernest Hicken in Heber City, Utah. She grew up in Heber City, UT, graduating from high school in 1943. She met her husband Reid Tew Allred and after a lengthy courtship in Provo, UT, they were married on November 22, 1950, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They settled in Malta, Idaho, where they came to cherish their relationships with the people of the valley. Alta raised her family and then began work as a secretary for Raft River Electric. Upon retirement she continued to enjoy her family and companionship with her husband. She cared for Reid in his declining health. After his passing, she sold her home and lived with her children enjoying summers in Star Valley, Wyoming and winters in Oak City, Utah and Tempe, Arizona. She leaves behind five children; Michael (Marie) Allred, Katherine (Steve) Anderson, Elizabeth (Jon) Christensen, Ernest (Karen) Allred, and Mary Jane (Gene) Rice, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grand children. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent Park 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 10885 Pampas Drive (approx. 850 E.), Sandy, Utah. Family and friends may call from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday morning just prior to the service. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. Online guest book at wingmortuary.com
