From the spokesman-Review: 21 June 2009:
DAVIS, Donald Glover Jr. Our loving son, brother, uncle, and dad passed away June 18, 2009 in Spokane, Washington. He was born in Moscow, Idaho on Sept 4th, 1947 to Donald and Beverly Davis, his twin brother, Ronnie passed away shortly after birth. Don served in the U.S. Coast Guard from March 18, 1968 till March 17th, 1972. He was very proud of his service and talked often of his journeys to the Aleutian Islands. He was on an ice breaker that traveled to the North Pole, which had him stranded for many months. He loved fishing and hunting pheasants. He graduated from Lewis & Clark H.S. in 1966. He was a registered counselor for Drug and alcohol rehabilitation and enjoyed that work enormously. He helped start "Our Club" in downtown Spokane for AA. He was an active member of AA for over 30 years and was very proud of his sobriety. He most recently has worked at Northern Quest as a card dealer for nine years. Don loved to play cards of any kind. He has an infectious laugh and was honored for his work ethic at Northern Quest. He is survived by his mother, Bev Melior, his sisters, Priscilla Durnen, Diane Woodman and Cindy Dozier all in Spokane. His sister, Kristy Luft-Grady in Montana. Numerous nieces and nephews. His only daughter, Debra Roberts lives in Bothell, WA. His longtime friends Rae McRae, Dick Schindler and Le Cleveland plus other dear friends were important in his lifes journey. He was preceeded in death by his father, Donald Glover Davis in 1967 and his brother, Ronnie in 1947 and his grandmother and father, Clair and Ruby Davis. A private burial will be held in Freeman, WA. Please join us for a memorial celebration of his life at Northern Quest Casino on June 23rd at Pend'Oreille Pavillion 2-4 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Don will be missed greatly and was a good and honorable man who lived a private life and never asked for much in return. SPOKANE CREMATION & BURIAL SERVICE.
