Lawrence D. Anderson, 73, of Marquette, Michigan, died May 8, 2009 at his home in the presence of his loving family and friends after a 22-month illness.

Larry Anderson was born on March 5, 1936 in Talbot, Michigan.

Larry married Kay Ann Carroll on November 30, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City.

Larry spent his high school years at St. Nazianz Seminary before starting a career with Michigan Bell Telephone Company. His job took him and his young family to many cities throughout Michigan. They eventually made their home in Marquette. He retired from Michigan Bell as an engineer.

He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, devoting much time at Marquette General Hospital. He volunteered installing Lifeline equipment throughout Marquette County. Larry was a long time board member of the Peninsula Waters Girlscout Council. He was a devoted NMU Wildcat Hockey & Football fan where he was a member of the Golden Wildcat Club. But most of all he spent his time with Kay and wherever his children and grandchildren were.

Larry always had a story to tell and advice to give, no matter what the subject was. He could fix anything asked of him and often did, sometimes with his hands alone. Being the youngest of ten siblings, he became a surrogate father to nieces and nephews for many years, up to the time of his death.

Lawrence Anderson was survived by his loving family including his wife Kay Anderson of Marquette; his Children, Tom (Karen) Anderson, Marquette; Joan (Dr. Rick) Scalcucci, Wausau, WI; Jean (Kevin) Rundgren, Monticello, MN; Janet (Saeb) Jannoun, Tampa, FL; Matt (Melissa) Anderson, Marquette; his Grandchildren, Andre, Gina and Mario Scalcucci; Rose Howes and Tess Jannoun; Samantha DeFreitas; Matthew R., Adam and Amanda Anderson; Matthew D. and Mara Anderson and his Great Grandchildren Julian Scalcucci and Syler DeFreitas; the very special Traverse City family and best friend John Prince.

He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Anderson and mother Frances Anderson; nine brothers and sisters; a son Francis Anderson, at birth; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Rose Carroll.
